Today: Partly to mostly sunny with a few evening thunderstorms possible, especially across northern Delmarva. Highs: 80-85. Winds: SW 10-30+ mph.
Tonight: A few showers and storms possible throughout the night. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy by morning. Lows: 55-62. Winds: W-NE 10-20+ mph.
Thursday: We may see a couple lingering showers early in the morning. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon. Highs: 55-75. Winds: NE-SE 5-20+ mph.
Thursday Night: Partly to mostly cloudy with maybe a little fog by the morning hours. Lows: 50-56. Winds: SE-S 5-15 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny and warmer. Highs: 75-80. Winds: SW 10-25+ mph.
Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny and breezy. Highs: 75-85. Winds: SW 10-30+ mph.
It could even be warmer this afternoon with highs into the 80s today and we may even break some records. The record in Salisbury is 83 set back in 1978…in Georgetown the record is 80 set in 1979. I think it is more likely to fall in Georgetown and we will probably tie the record in Salisbury, but it will be close there. We will pay for this with a little front diving in from the north by this evening and tonight. It will bring a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms and few of these storms could bring a punch to them with strong and gusty winds, very heavy rain, and lightning as well. The focus on the threat of the stronger thunderstorms will be on northern parts of the region as the front looks to fall apart as it pushes south. Most of the region (far southern Delmarva will be close) seeing scattered showers and a few storms throughout the night before departing into Thursday morning.
It will bring a wind shift and cooler temperatures on Thursday with highs in the 50s, 60s, and 70s with the wind coming in off the Atlantic. We will see a mix of sun with clouds and more clouds out toward the beach that will continue to overspread the area into the late afternoon and evening hours. This push of cooler air off the ocean will help to keep things stable on Thursday and keep most active weather that could develop to our north and west into Thursday evening and Thursday night.
The wind flips back out of the south and southwest for the weekend as temperatures soar back up into the 70s and 80s for highs. The wind will pick up again on Saturday and especially on Sunday as a stronger cold front arrives with scattered showers and thunderstorms on Sunday evening and Sunday night. A bigger threat for severe weather could be in the cards for us on Sunday night with the blast of colder air that comes in behind the front heading into next week.
