Fire Destroys Chestertown Home

CHESTERTOWN, Md.- Authorities are searching for the cause of an early Sunday morning fire that left a Chestertown home in ruins.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said it happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at a one-story home located at 24184 Langford Road. 

It took the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company approximately one hour and 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

The fire caused an estimated $170,000 in damage to the structure and another $30,000 in damage to its contents. 

Deputy state fire marshals said one victim was evaluated by EMS on the scene.  However, the victim signed a refusal for further treatment and was not transported.
