Sharon Lynn Santacroce, 73, of Ocean Pines, Maryland, passed away at home on June 16, 2026, following a long battle with cancer. Her cause of death was cancer metastasis that could no longer be treated successfully.
Early Life and Education
Sharon was born on April 24, 1953, in South Charleston, West Virginia. She graduated from West Virginia State College in 1975 with a degree in business.
Family
Sharon was the daughter of the late Willie Kenneth Meadows and Betty Lois Meadows, née Clark. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Philip Kaye Meadows.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 33 years, Gregory Joseph Santacroce; her older brother, Michael Keith Meadows. Nephew Philip Keith Meadows, and his wife, Dr. Shannon Carpenter Meadows of Hurricane, West Virginia; their children, Sharon's great-nieces, Charlotte and Samantha Meadows. Nephew Mason Barnett. Finally, all the many dear friends and family in New Jersey before retiring, friends from the flying community and Ocean Pines MD community where she last resided.
Passions and Remembrances
Those who knew Sharon well admired her passion as an accomplished private, instrument-rated commercial pilot. She also had a deep love for her cats, Sultan and Isabella, as well as for all the beloved cats and dogs who were part of her life over the years.
She was especially moved by Canada geese, whom she regarded as beautiful, misunderstood, sentient beings. During the COVID years, she befriended one goose named Hector, who would fly to her when she called his name.
She will also be remembered as an avid Florida Gators fan. Watching a Gators game any Saturday with Sharon was always entertaining. Another activity that brought her joy was watching eagle nests across the United States and around the world.
Arrangements
Cremation has been observed, and no services are currently scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be determined later. Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Home have been entrusted with the arrangements. Final interment will take place at Sunset Memorial in Beckley, West Virginia.

Donations in Sharon's memory may be made to the Worcester County Humane Society.
Sharon will be remembered for her independence, compassion, curiosity, and the deep devotion she showed to the people and animals she loved.
