BISHOPVILLE, MD - The Maryland State Police have arrested a Bishopville woman on charges of first and second-degree murder after reportedly finding her boyfriend fatally shot on Monday night.

Police say Bonnie Hackendorn, 61, called them to a home on Shell Mill Road just before 9:30 p.m. on May 12 reporting her boyfriend had been shot. Upon arrival, the victim, David Shaulis, 57, was found lying on the floor unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound, according to investigators. Shaulis died on the scene and his body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to confirm the cause of death.

The ensuing investigation, according to police, led authorities to arrest Hackendorn and charge her with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and other related firearm charges. Hackendorn was taken to Worcester County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
