SALISBURY, Md.- Tuesday is election day and voters have three candidates to choose between for mayor.

Businessman Randy Taylor says he will lead with 'Progress With Transparency' and aims to reduce city spending. Taylor says he entered the race over his concern with the city's direction.

"I got interested in this race because I saw things that I had never seen before in my entire time, as a history, saw things happening that nobody was even aware of what didn't seem to have broad community buy-in. And it concerns me and it concerns me to this day," said Taylor.

Councilwoman Megan Outten says if elected mayor, she wants to improve housing across the city and focus on sustainable development.

"I'm here to represent a Salisbury that will provide housing for it's families, opportunities for it's businesses, and an abundance of support for it's residents ," said Outten.

Jermichael Mitchell is a long time resident of Salisbury and says he wants to 'Champion Salisbury back to greatness'. He says that can be done by bringing people to the table who have felt forgotten by the city of Salisbury.

"A lot of times things in our city are being done without our consent. They not coming  to the people and asking those questions of what we need as people they're making these decision then we gotta back track and talk about them later on," said Mitchell.

Voter Riley Bruce hopes there is a large turnout this election.

"It is such a critical election we can go in multiple different paths here and I think it's important to go out there and vote and make sure your voice is heard," said Bruce.

Voter Marsha Downing says change in the city is overdue.

"Everybody should come out and vote for change. There is definitely a need for change in Salisbury Maryland," said Downing.

Polls in Salisbury are open until 7 p.m. In addition to the mayoral race, 4 out of the 5 city council seats are up for grabs.
