WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.– A public hearing tonight invites neighbors to comment on a solar generating project proposed for Berlin.
Developers Soltage MD DevCo, LLC, and Berlin Living, LLC, are looking to build six co-located solar facilities covering 112 of 157 acres across two properties on North Main Street, northwest of the US 113 and US 50 intersection.
Maryland's Public Service Commission says the project would generate up to 18 MW of energy to be allocated to community solar subscribers within Delmarva Power's service area.
A public hearing scheduled for June 22 will include presentations from the developers, information from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Power Plant Research Program and PSC recommendations, according to a press release.
Worcester County neighbors can attend in-person at 7 p.m. at the Willards Lions Community Center, or attend online if registered by June 18. The meeting will also be available to watch afterward on the PSC Public Utility Law Judge Division Youtube page, barring any technical difficulties.
Public comment on the application will be accepted until July 1. Comments can be submitted online or by mail to Jamie Bergin, Chief Clerk, Maryland Public Service Commission, William Donald Schaefer Tower, 6 St. Paul Street, 16th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202.
Officials say comments should reference Case No. 9826.
The case docket can be viewed online or in-person at the Berlin Planning and Zoning Department, according to PSC.
