WASHINGTON (CBS/WBOC)– Maryland Congressman Andy Harris was reportedly involved in a scuffle on the House floor early Thursday.

It came during debate over the certification of election results.

While Democratic Congressman Conor Lamb of Pennsylvania spoke, Republican Andy Harris reportedly got into an argument with Democratic Congressman Colin Allred from Texas.  Several reporters said the dispute may have been sparked by Lamb's description of the Wednesday rioting.

Multiple witnesses say it almost got physical, and that Harris and Allred had to be separated.

FOX News reports that the potential brawl between the lawmakers would have pitted Harris, a 63-year-old U.S. Navy veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm, against Allred, a 37-year-old former college football player at Baylor who later spent some time with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District, which includes the Eastern Shore, since 2011. Allred, a native of Dallas, has represented the 32nd Congressional District in Texas since January 2019 and was reelected to a second term in November.
