SALISBURY, Md. - Fire officials say a dog died in a house fire on Richmond Avenue early Friday morning.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal says on April 3, around 5:30 a.m., the Salisbury Fire Department and Delmar Fire Department responded to a home in the 700 block of Richmond Avenue after a fire was discovered by a neighbor.
The Salisbury Fire Department says crews found a dog in need of medical assistance and transferred it to EMS care. In an update from the Maryland Fire Marshal's Office, the dog reportedly died.
No other injuries were reported.
Fire officials say it took about 45 minutes to get the flames under control. The fire marshal's office estimates damage around $170,000.
Investigators say the fire was accidentally caused by an electrical event.
The Red Cross and family members are reportedly helping the person displaced by the fire.
