UPDATED: MSP Investigating Fatal Crash in Worcester County

BERLIN, Md.- Maryland State Police closed traffic lanes westbound on Route 50 temporarily Wednesday night after a serious car accident.

Troopers say the accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on Rt. 50 just east of MD Rt. 610.

Responding officers say Chad Alan Coleman, 37, of Selbyville, Del., was driving his 2005 Ford F-150 when the F-150 crashed into the rear of a  2013 Chrysler 200.

As a result of the collision, police say the F-150 traveled off the roadway into a tree line and the Chrysler 200 was forced into the guardrail on the right shoulder.

The driver of the Chrysler 200, Cordonte Antonio Ayres, 26, of Salisbury, was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center by ambulance while Coleman was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma by aviation, according to police.

Maryland State Police say the extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

Troopers say traffic lanes westbound on Rt. 50 were reopened at approximately 10:21 p.m.

Maryland State Police are still investigating the collision and say charges are pending.
